Learning Beyond the Classroom.
Outdoor education, guided journeys, and experiential learning in the Indian Himalaya. We design meaningful programmes for schools, institutions, organisations, and individuals who believe that some of life’s most valuable lessons are learned outside.
Our foundation
A quiet philosophy, shaped in the mountains.
Heart in Himalaya began with a simple belief: the outdoors are not separate from education—they are part of it. Every trail, campsite, mountain pass and shared journey offers opportunities to build confidence, strengthen relationships and understand the natural world in ways that are difficult to recreate indoors. Whether we’re working with a school group, leading a Himalayan trek or planning a cycling expedition, the purpose remains the same: to create experiences that people continue learning from long after they return home.
Meaningful experiences designed to encourage curiosity, confidence, teamwork and learning through direct engagement with the natural world.
Journeys that bring together thoughtful planning, responsible travel and the confidence to move through the mountains with purpose.
Built through collaboration with educators, local communities, outdoor professionals and participants who share a respect for people and place.
We believe the outdoors is one of the world’s greatest classrooms — where the mountain teaches and the student learns to listen.

PROGRAMMEs
Learning journeys, not itineraries.
Every programme begins with a purpose. Some are designed around outdoor education, others around exploration, leadership, or moving through the mountains with intention. While each journey is different, they all share the same belief — meaningful experiences happen when people engage with nature, with each other, and with themselves.

School Programs
Thoughtfully designed outdoor learning experiences that help students build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and a lasting connection with nature.

Cycling Expeditions
Multi-day cycling journeys through the Himalaya that encourage resilience, curiosity, self-reliance, and meaningful travel beyond the destination.

Guided Treks
Small-group Himalayan treks led with care, responsibility, and local knowledge—designed for people who value the journey as much as the summit.

FOUNDER’S STORY
A Lifelong Partnership with the Outdoors
For Shashank, the outdoors was never simply a backdrop for adventure. It became a place to learn, lead, teach and keep returning to. His journey has taken him across Himalayan trails, high-altitude routes, ski slopes and cycling journeys, while working with people of very different ages and backgrounds. Over the years, he has worked as a trek leader, outdoor instructor, trip leader and cycling expedition leader, developing an understanding that goes beyond simply knowing a route. It is about reading the terrain, understanding people, making responsible decisions and helping others experience the outdoors with confidence.
That experience has been shaped by both years in the field and deliberate training, including a Basic Mountaineering Course at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering with Grade A (ALFA), intermediate and advanced skiing training at ABVIMAS, a 16-day Outdoor Leadership Course, Wilderness First Responder training, CPR and wilderness first-aid training, Leave No Trace education and outdoor experiential facilitation. His documented field experience includes 101 programmes, 613 field days and 4,236 recorded participants, across trekking, outdoor education, leadership programmes, cycling and other outdoor experiences.
Today, that accumulated experience shapes Heart in Himalaya. Whether it is a Himalayan trek, cycling expedition, school programme or outdoor learning experience, the aim is not simply to take people somewhere, but to create experiences where the journey itself becomes meaningful, encouraging people to slow down, pay attention, take responsibility, work together and discover what the outdoors can teach.

VOICES FROM THE OUTDOORS
Every journey leaves something behind.
Some participants return with new skills. Others return with a different perspective. These reflections capture a few of the experiences shared after time spent learning and travelling outdoors.
The programme struck the right balance between adventure and learning. Our students returned more confident, more collaborative, and genuinely excited about the outdoors.

Everything felt thoughtfully organised—from safety and leadership to the pace of the journey. It never felt rushed, and that’s what made the experience so memorable.

It wasn’t just another trek. It gave me a new appreciation for the mountains, the people who live there, and the importance of travelling responsibly.
